Old Ones Return (III)

*Moonmon is bouncing up and down like a basket ball. Biyomon grabs her and is only just able to hang on, as he and the stumbling Cameron follow Kylie's stretcher*

*The medics hadn't even done CPR yet, but okay, I guess we're skipping that part. They quickly shuffle into an elevator as a medic makes the stop gesture while pushing the door closed button.*

<If you want them to live, you'll have to leave them with us. Go back to the Digital Gate chamber & receive proper first aid.>

*Moonmon hops onto Kylie's stretcher as the door closes. Cameron stops and watches, as does Biyomon*


Cameron:<Please be alright...>

Taiyo: "But..."

She stares hopelessly as the door closes in front of her.

*In the immediate aftermath, Taiyo had her hands bandaged & Kylie had her burns disinfected & the major ones damaged. They were sent home with instructions on how to care for them until Wednesday, at which time the hospital also allowed Kylie & Euryale to be visited outside of their immediate families. Neither one has woken up. The cover story was that Euryale was hit by a car & Kylie had an unexpected seizure--as they were on government property, the government was considered liable, & the pair were taken to a government hospital--while Kylie was put in a straightjacket & strapped down in her hospital bed to prevent her from being harmed by more seizures. In reality, this was for fear of the dormant Parasimon taking control. Under these straps are sutras, requested of Taomon. After an agonizing wait, the school bell finally rings, signaling dismissal. Due to the controls for the Digital Gate being destroyed, & the danger that they wouldn't know exactly where the Space Oscillation Devices were going to send them, there have been no missions & they have simply been told to counter Bio-Emerging Digimon & wait for further instructions. However, there hasn't been any word from the Digital World either.*

Taiyo goes to the hospital as she had tried every other day, only to be told to come back Wednesday. Renamon followed along out of sight.

When she got home Saturday, she informed her parents of Renamon's existance as there was no other way she could explain her burns. Her mother was initially frightened by the kitsune's sudden appearance while her father was more than weary given the incidents involving Digimon in the past and present, but there wasn't much they could do about it.

The two sat on a park bench in silence. They cancelled their plans for Sunday with no sign of reschedueling, Azuma thinking back again to Saturday.

Taiyo: "You...you bastard!"

Taiyo hurt herself more than Azuma when she had hit him for Saturday's incident and Euryale's condition. Fortunately Renamon didn't strike him, but the look on her face was plenty hurtful.

Patamon had only began speaking to Azuma this morning while Salamon only glared daggers at him. She sat on Hitomi's right away from him so as to keep her from biting him again.

Taiyo: "At least you kept your promise."

He briefly glanced at Hitomi who had been unharmed during the battle.

Only thing I did do right.

Hitomi: "We're free to visit Euryale today."

Azuma: "That's all right. If you want to, go for it."

*Cameron had allow told his family on what was really going on, and although it had gone over incredibly badly, things were calming down. He and his parents have visited Kylie everyday, as they are immediate family. Cameron and Biyomon are currently watching the news, waiting for Cameron's mother to return home so that they can go visit Kylie together*

*Lunamon hasn't left Kylie's side*

*When Taiyo arrives at Euryale's room, Thiera is already on her knees by Euryale's beside, holding her hand. DemiDevimon is standing on the headrest, drooping her wings & ear thingies, while Koromon is still wedged between Euryale's arm & body. Thiera wipes her tears with her other hand.*

A<Don't you think you're being a bit dramatic? I already told you there wasn't anything you could do.>

T"I still should have been there. If she doesn't wake up...I'll never get to tell her...that I'm sorry...."

A<We never apologized to you either. Pull yourself together, girl. Why am I the one who has to tell you this? What is your partner doing?>

D<Huh? Oh...yeah....>

Taiyo: "She hasn't woke up...?"

Hitomi stands up, picking up Salamon.

Hitomi: "If you do not wish to-"

Azuma: "That's not it at all. I should go see her and whoever else will be there...Hell, I should be the one in that hospital, it's just...I can't face them. I can't say I'm sorry I almost got us all killed and hospitalized Euryale and hope it'll blow over. It just doesn't work that way. If you're going, at least give my regards. Or don't. Won't change anything."

Hitomi: "If you feel everyone will be against you, they won't be. Because I will be by your side."

Azuma: "Thank you."

Hitomi sets off for the hospital.

*Lunamon sits by Kylie's head, sleeping*

OOC: Shitty post is shitty.

*Thiera whirls around, taking a step back & looking down.*

T"I'm...afraid not...."

A<Thought you'd be here soon.>

*Koromon hops down, Digivolving into Agumon along the way. He then makes his way over to the window & slides it open. Of course, it only opens a little more than a foot. Apparently, they fear suicide.*

Taiyo: "Oh...Is she at least doing any better? Nothing life threatening or anything like that?"

Renamon climbs in through the window with some difficulty.

Azuma watches as Hitomi leaves until she's out of sight before standing up.

Patamon: "Now what are you doing?"

Azuma: "I don't know."

He sets off in the opposite direction.

*Mrs. and Mr. Sorenson return home, carrying to bouquets, red roses for Euryale and sunflowers for Kylie*

Mr. Sorenson:<Ready to go?>

*Cameron and Biyomon nod and they go out to the car, and start heading for Hypnos*

T"I hope so. I'm not really sure."

*She looks over to Euryale. Agumon is helping Renamon through.*

A<No chance. I've been listening to monitors beep out her vitals for nearly a week now. It's oddly sobering.>

*When Cameron and his parents arrive, they enter the hospital and go to Kylie's room*

Cameron:<Lunamon?>

*Lunamon shifts but doesn't open her eyes. Cameron puts the sunflowers on Kylie's side table*

Mrs. Sorenson:<How is she Lunamon?>

Lunamon:<No change. If I hadn't regressed, she wouldn't be here...>

*Lunamon curls up into a ball*

Taiyo: "That's good..."

Once inside, Renamon looks from her partner to Taiyo, her ears droop.

You didn't get your wish.

Azuma resumes his wanderings, checking the time on his D-Power.

*The street he's in suddenly fills with fog.*

*Agumon drags Renamon into the bathroom as they're suddenly intruded upon by a female doctor with blue oval-rimmed glasses, a black ponytail & a knee-high blue dress, wielding a clipboard.*

<I have some difficult news. I just got off of the phone with Euryale's family, and when I found out you were here, I thought it was only fair to let you know as well....>

Cameron:<I better get these over to Euyale's room. I'll be right back.>

*He grabs the flowers then walks over to Euryale's room, but stops when he sees Thiera*

<Thiera...?>

At this point, Hitomi arrives.

Taiyo: "What...what is it?"

He looks at his D-Power to see where the signal will be coming from.

<There is no easy way to say this. The scan of Euryale's brain shows that most of her cerebral cortex has deteriorated. For all intents & purposes...she's already dead.>

*Thiera gasps, covering her mouth with her hands & generally looking horrified. DemiDevimon had dropped down & was pretending to be a pillow.*

*Hearing this, Agumon goes rigid, & then regresses instantly to Koromon.*

*It's right in front of him, about a 10 foot walk.*

BanchoLeomon's voice<...Come...into my world....>

*Cameron drops the bouquet, spilling the flowers all over the floor. Then he falls to his knees*

<There's nothing that can be done?>

The dam she had been struggling to keep up since Saturday had finally burst. Taiyo began to cry for the first time in a year.

Hitomi just stared at the floor, clutching Salamon.

In the bathroom, Renamon's ears continued to droop and she stared at the floor.

Azuma heads towards the signal.

Patamon: "Should you be doing this?"

Azuma: "I don't know."

Could this be a change at redemption?

*The doctor turns at the sound of Cameron's voice & looks back & forth.*

<I'm very sorry, we did all we could for her. Is there anything I can do for you?>

*Meanwhile, Thiera advances on Taiyo & puts an arm around her. She tries not to cry again, but Taiyo's making it difficult.*

*Doesn't matter, BanchoLeomon pulls him in. He winds up under a banyo tree on top of a cliff overlooking the ocean. BanchoLeomon, now with a new coat, settles back into a meditation pose. Fog comes rushing in as the portal closes behind them, but quickly disperses.*

<They haven't reached this place yet. But if we can track you in your world, they can track us. Your friends are in danger.>

Taiyo puts her arms around Thiera and continues to cry.

Azuma: "That's nothing new. Senthose already appeared at our location."

<I was just bringing...her flowers.>

*Cameron slowly stands up and gathers up the flowers*
