Episode Eight: Home

*So Eve keeps walking, holding Terriermon like a stuff toy*

*Kylie puts on a bathrobe and enters her room where Lunamon is waiting. She lays down on the bed and falls asleep*

*Euryale frowns a bit.*

E"I'll see what I can find. Guilmon, help me bring things out."

G<Oh boy, I want a whole turkey!>

E"I'm not making a turkey."

*And so they head into the kitchen. Euryale's parents sit or stand awkwardly opposite the others.*

Father<So...what's it like bein' a fox?>

Mother<Does that plant have a face?>

*Lalamon turns around, burying herself in Aroma's chest.*

A"Sh--she's sh--sh--shy."

R"I didn't hit anyone with anything. Argue with him."

*He tosses Dorumon over his shoulder, in her general direction. Dorumon flaps his wings to slow his descent.*

Renamon blinks.

Renamon: "I'm afraid I don't understand the question."

Their zany adventure is interupted by them almost running into Azuma. The police cruiser still incoming.

Kylie's dreams are packed to the brim with memories of recent tramuatic events of S&M themed sexual abuse and her first kiss being from a monster. Her ability to form a meaningful relationship possibly compromised.

*Kylie shrieks in her sleep, causing everyone in the house to run to her room*

Mr Sorenson:<Kylie?!>

*Kylie runs to him, crying*

Lunamon:<It's the memories...>

*Eve nods at Azuma and keeps going, heading away from the cruiser*

*Roatha follows.*

Father<You know...a fox. Like...what you are?>

E"Well, that just explained everything."

*Euryale comes out with a tray of drinks, as Guilmon carries a tray of assorted sammiches.*

Mother<So...can they all talk?>

*Euryale nods.*

E"Lalamon can even sing. She's really good, right, Aroma?"

*And so Aroma blushes.*

A"Uh...yes."

Taiyo: "Thank you."

Renamon: "My appearance is only based on that of a fox."

Azuma continues on his way, not being the one looking to be arrested.

There's an alley coming up and I don't know how close either of them are to there homes.

*I guess Eve eventually reaches her neighborhood, which is quite nice. She walks up to a large tan house with a single car parked out front*

Mr Sorenson:<What exactly happened?>

*Kylie shakes her head, still crying. Lunamon hugs her leg*

*Roatha hangs back in the driveway with his hairy dinosaur thing.*

R"So...do you want me to go, or...?"

Father<So what now?>

"No idea. I'll try to say something if I have to leave again. Oh, I told them we could all use the shower."

Father<Separately, I'm sure.>

"Hey, it's your water bill. Aroma, why don't you go first?"

Taiyo: "It's okay, I don't want to impose or anything."

Ducking into allies always works, they're in the clear for the time being. Unless some bum and a byproduct of Fukushima lowering the property value of Eve's presumably liveable home means anything.

*Eve beckons him forward, then goes up and knocks on the door. After a minute, Terriermon knocks again*

Cameron:<We'll talk later.>

*So everyone leaves while Kylie gets dressed*

A"I don't either."

E"It's fine. I'm inviting you. I think we'd all like to look good for when we go meet Taiyo's parents."

*Roatha just stands there. Awkwardly.*

Taiyo: "Er....right?"

She looks at the Digimon unsure of how she's going to explain them to her parents. Or her three day disappearance.

Azuma stands outside the door of his apartment in the same predicament.

Patamon: "Are you going in or not?"

*Eve searches around for a key, then opens the door and rushes Roatha inside. The interior is rather fancy, with lots of hardwood, and book shelves cover the walls*

Eve:<Hello?>

*Kylie heads in to eat as well*

*Eventually, Aroma is convinced to go upstairs.*

"Taiyo, could I talk to you in the kitchen, for a minute?"

Taiyo: "Yes, of course."

They presumably step out into the kitchen, Renamon seeming a bit more relieved at Taiyo being less nervous.

With a deep breath, Azuma opens the door and walks in. Inside an older male comes in to see who's just waltzing into his home like they own the place.

He stares bewildered for a second before approaching him and pulling him into a hug.

Kentaro: "Where the hell have you been for three days?"

Azuma: "Long story."

Patamon tries saying something, but is too squished to speak properly, prompting Kentaro to back off. Kari enters the hall and mimics Kentaro's actions, further squishing Patamon.

Kentaro: "What is that you're carrying?"

Azuma: "Long story."

Kentaro: "Well, I'm sure it can wait a few minutes. You smell like the walking dead. Hit the showers."

*Eve walks back to Roatha*

<Looks like they're both at the lab. Would you like to go see your parents now?>

*Euryale downs her drink & stares out of the window.*

"Taiyo--there's no easy way for me to ask this--do you want to date Aroma?"

*She turns to look at Taiyo when she asks this last part.*

R"They aren't going to be home anyway."

Taiyo: "Um....but I'm dating you, right?"

Azuma comes into the living room, clean and dressed. Patamon sits with Kari, eating cookies.

Patamon: "Your family's pretty great."

Azuma: "It is, isn't it?"

Kentaro: "Okay then....so what's the story?"

Azuma sits down and begins weaving a story of monsters, public parks, and alternate universe hopping.

E"What I mean is...would you like her to date us, together?"

Eve:<I see. What should we do now?>

Terriermon:<We can bum around here for a while.>

Taiyo: "Oh! That sounds nice. I um....didn't think you'd be into that."

E"I don't usually bring it up this early in the relationship, but you seem to really like Aroma. She's not normally my type, but I'd be willing to give her a chance. Besides, if you love her, then she's part of the family. Wait...no, "family" just makes it sound weird & gross...you know what I mean."

R"I guess...?"

Taiyo: "Right. But um....what if she's not into the idea?"

Azuma resigns himself to his room, Kentaro following to the doorway.

Azuma: "Yes?"

Kentaro: "Do you remember what dad used to say whenever one of us was having a bad day?"

Azuma: "Not really. You knew him longer than I did."

Kentaro: "I guess he did say it to me more, but anyways, whenever we were having a bad day and it seemed like the end of the world he'd always say 'Never let life kill your spark.' I'm sure you'll persevere, we always have."

*Terriermon hops off of Eve's shoulder and runs into the kitchen*

Eve:<I guess I could use a bite to eat.>

E"Well, obviously, we can't force her to do anything. We'll have to approach the subject tactfully. It could be intimidating if we just corner her & ask her to be our lover. We could ask her after we leave my house. Or maybe tomorrow, when she's already met our parents."
