Cabin in the Woods II

*Azuma, Mimiru, & Monu walk through the woods in what I presume is silence for several minutes.*

N"Whelp, if we don't have a light, then I guess we'll just have to go back."

*He leaves.*

"So, how are your classes going?" Sab asked after taking another sip of lemonade.

Azuma: "So there's some monster hunter in the woods now? On top of more monsters."

"Well, then, shall we wait for a little longer or head straight back now?" Hector asked, stretching his back a little and wincing at the pain from the wounds.

N"I don't like the thought of waiting for that thing to come find us. Let's go now."

*Silence.*

A"Pretty good. Yours?"

"They're cool," Sab said, "I really like my major."

"Oddly enough I agree again," Hector nodded. Eduj stood up from the side of the pond.

<I guess.>

*Monu shrugs as he walks*

Tirea:<Yeah, let's go kick that monster's ass!>

Eve:<Let's focus on getting the cabin back first.>

Tirea:<Then we find Monu and the others.>

*As the dark profile of the cabin creeps into view, they can see no immediate signs of activity or disturbance. Thiera pans back & forth with her lantern. Still nothing.*

"So...did you like what I left you back in our room?"

Azuma: "Any idea of our next destination? No idea where the pond is and for all we know they wrote us off as dead."

<I think Vanessa said the pond was southwest of the cabin. But approaching the cabin would be dangerous.>

*Monu trails off and shrugs*

Tirea:<Maybe it got bored.>

"Or it is waiting for us," Hector whispered. "The thing could be hiding in any of the shadows around this place."
Astarte was hanging back and had taken to gripping Eduj's arm.

N"Well, let's cut right to the chase."

*Nero & Thiera begin moving around the cabin towards the front door. As they pass, the darkness creeps up the walls. Everyone becomes increasingly aware of the long swaths their own shadows leave behind them.*

*Eve, Tirea, and Cameron follow silently*

Eve:Do I fear death? I can't answer that right now.

Hector, Eduj and Astarte kept moving. Astarte's grip tightened.

Sab looked confused, "You left me something back in the room?" She thought for a second, but couldn't remember seeing anything. "I remember taking a nap, waking up, getting ready, and coming straight here. I didn't see anything that you might have left. Where did you leave it?"

Azuma: "Real helpful when we don't even know where we are."

*The Terrible Trio starts to come into view of a ball of light next to the vague shadow of the cabin.*

*Hearing voices & footsteps, Nero & Thiera turn around to peer into the woods. The sounds are closest to Astarte.*

*Aroma frowns.*

"Oh...you didn't see it...maybe my bed was a bad place...."

Astarte cowered behind Eduj, who looked into the shadows and listened for recognizable voices.

Azuma: "Lantern or ball of get lost in the woods light."

Mimiru: "Who cares we're at the cabin. That should count for something."

"Well, I'll just get in your bed when we get home," Sab said, taking a sip of her lemonade. When she realized what she said she choked on her juice and looked up at Aroma blushing red, "I mean, 'check on your bed'!"

*It had gone completely over Aroma's head. She blinks in confusion as she scratches behind her ear.*

"Isn't that what you just said?"

N"Oh, hey, they're not dead."

*Nero turns his attention back to the cabin. As they're now pretty close to the front door, he peers through one of the windows.*

N"I don't SEE anything. But it could be lurking just out of the light & we'd never know."

"Yes!" Sab said, in her still alarmed voice, "I was, um... just making sure you heard me." Her face grew redder with embarrassment.

"So, will we go in?" Hector asked, coming up to Nero's side. "We will only find out if it's safe one way."

Azuma: "We saw it awhile back. Some woman shot it. Also there's something bigger out there that mauled a cop to death. Someone want to put my arm back where it goes?"
